Swimming pool accidents and other water-related accidents can occur in just moments and frequently result in life-long injuries and/or the loss of a loved one. When I was much younger, the only time my brother and I went to the pool was during the summer when school was out and the only pool available was at the local YMCA.
Nowadays, families have a multitude of pools at their local gyms, country clubs, outdoor water parks such as Zoombezi Bay, as well as indoor water parks such as Kalahari Resorts where the family can enjoy swimming, splashing and waterslides year round.
Along with the increased access to water parks and swimming pools, parents, resorts, and lifeguards have an increased responsibility to ensure that children can have a great time in a safe environment.
Parents should be aware that a drowning can occur in only 2 inches of water. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
If you or a loved one is the victim of a poolside or other aquatic accident, it may be important to investigate the accident immediately to determine exactly what happened and why it was allowed to happen. Unfortunately, evidence in a swimming pool and other aquatic accidents disappears quickly and must be investigated immediately by the right experts. Some of this evidence may include water chemicals, the visibility through the water, the flow of water through water attractions, drain filtration systems, and much of this evidence can disappear if not investigated and preserved immediately.
If you or your loved one has been injured, contact me so that I can ensure that the accident is investigated immediately and so I can ensure crucial evidence is preserved. Whether your swimming pool injury happened at a municipal pool, apartment complex, water park, country club, private home, hotel, or school, my office will investigate the claim thoroughly to determine exactly what happened and who is liable, if anyone.
