HOW DO I GET MY MEDICAL BILLS PAID FROM A PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT?

Ray Critchett April 17, 2014

Hi, I am Ray Critchett with Buckeyelaw.com.  If you have been injured in a personal injury accident, whether it is from a motorcycle collision, trucking accident or a premise liability claim, you may have concerns about what to do with your medical bills.

This is a common question and unfortunately there is no simple answer and it can be a battle.

If you have private health insurance, you should instruct your medical providers to submit your medical bills through your health insurance, just like normal.  The fact that your injuries may have been caused by someone else’s negligence does not matter.

If you medical providers say that they cannot do this or that they will not do it, you can submit the bills yourself.

If the health insurance carrier refuses to pay the bills, call an attorney.

If you have Medicare, then you may be required to submit the bills through the Medical Payments portion of your own auto insurance policy.  Again, you should call an attorney to ensure that you are doing the right thing.

Call me, it won’t cost you anything to see if I can help.
